Chestnut on Quarter Sawn White Oak is considered a Dark Stain. These finishes are most suitable for interiors with lots of light, or when high contrast is desirable, such a s between the perimeter and the island in the kitchen. We recommend choosing a wood species with darker or varied grain features, such as Cherry, Oak, or Walnut for dark stains, as those species take the stain better than others.
